Noravank monastery is one of the most spectacular tourist attractions in the Armenia. It is a 13th-century Armenian monastery, situated in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River and encircled by fantastic red rocks. Noravank means New Monastery in Armenian. The monastery is best known for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) church, which grants access to the second floor by way of a narrow stone-made staircase jutting out from the face of building. Noravank was founded in 1205 by Bishop Hovhannes. The beauty of this monastery appreciated by thousands of visitors not only because of its architecture and history, but also for its harmony with the surrounding nature.

Spitakavor Monastery is a 14th-century Armenian monastic complex near the Yeghegnadzor. The track leading to the monastery is quite bad, so hiking up is a good alternative. Spitakavor church built in 1321 by the Proshians. The monastery seems to be isolated from the entire world, and seems to be in the divine green surrounding where the human hand has yet not touched. “Breathtakingly beautiful” this is how it should be described.

The 9th century fortress of Smbatabert is located upon the crest of a hill between the villages of Artabuynk and Yeghegis. It was built in a very advantageous position on the southern end of a ridge, guarded by steep cliffs on three of its sides. It has high and wide (2-3 m) pyramid type fort-walls built with large bazalt stones:

Tsakhats Kar

This architectural complex is located 6 km from the village of Ekheghis. Unfortunately, it has been practically destroyed but even its ruins are very interesting and picturesque. The complex consists of two groups of monuments: the western, which is much older, and the eastern. The western side is represented by two churches - St. Virgin (10 th century) and St. Ovannes. The eastern includes St. Karapet church (1041) with domed hall, and the vaulted church of Holy Sign constructed in the same year.

Sur Kamurj

Sur Kamurj, Pointy Bridge on Arpa river was built in the 14th century. Like the name implies, Sur Kamurj is characterized by the sharp point it reaches at the middle. The reason for the sharp point has to do with the arch structure of the bridge, which gives it its strength. Its design stands as a testament to the genius of the architect, Momik, to whom so many of the monuments in Vayots Dzor are attributed.

Selim Caravanserai

In medieval Armenia many buildings were built along commercial routes for the accommodation of travelers. One of those, the caravanserai of Selim , was built in 1332 by Prince Chesar Orbelian, according to an inscription in Armenian and Arabic. This caravanserai offered hospitality to travelers along the highway crossing the Selim mountains.

We organize jeep - tour of the mountainous areas Spitakavor and Smbataberd.
